Leddy Library Staff Town Hall

From Pascal:

Our first all-staff meeting (meaning, everyone who works in Leddy, faculty and staff) is this Friday, September 30, from 2:00-3:00 pm, in the Leddy staff lounge on the fourth floor of Main. I hope you will be able to join us! I wanted to share some information of what you can expect for this meeting.

For this first meeting, we’re going to be kicking off the Library Review. Because this is something new for most of us, I’m going to be sharing some of what the Library Review will lead into, what will be involved, what expected outcomes there will be, and most importantly, where each of you will have an opportunity to participate and share your knowledge and experience of the Leddy Library’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and external threats. I’ll also provide a timeline on activities, now through next May.

Marcela Ciampa from Human Resources will lead us in an activity to share what hopes and fears each of us may have of this review process. We’ll have a chance to work in small groups, and then have someone from each table share what was discussed. We’ll review all of these, and the outcome of our work on Friday will be one input into the Library Self Review, which we are putting together for the reviewers who will be visiting campus in December-January timeframe.

We’ll finish the hour meeting with a Q&A time for any questions you may have about anything! Now is your chance to put Pascal on the spot with anything you want to know from Library administration. If I can’t answer your question right away, I will get the info needed and follow up with an answer to the Leddy All Employees list.

A couple of you have asked me “why should I come to this meeting? We’ve had these consultations in the past, and nothing has come of them.” One of my jobs is to help the Leddy Library be the best working environment it can be, and I want to let you know that I will do the very best I can to make these meetings worthwhile for you to attend, and that your participation in these is really important. From my perspective, I can’t know what you all experience on the service desks, working in your departments, working and collaborating with others across the Library and across campus. Your voice is as important as anyone else’s in the Library, including mine, and I want to listen, understand, and work with you all to make things better for all of us.

Come for the snacks and drinks, and stay for the discussion and shared work. I will always try to make this a valuable use of your time. Thanks for reading and considering!
